I have learn so much just from interning/work experience. I feel like anyone who wants to work in the fashion industry, interning is a good place to see what its like to work in the fashion industry, it give you an idea where you want to head towards.

A workplace experience must would probably be the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, I volunteered this year '17 and it was a way to get the ins and outs of event management, you'll meet a lot of like minded people, everyone was friendly and on top of that you'll get to see some runway shows!
